A memo issued by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget on Jan. 27, 2025, to temporarily pause federal financial assistance programs generated many questions about whether the pause would impact federal student loans and grants.

We have received official information from Federal Student Aid that confirms the federal government’s pause on federal grants and loans “does not impact assistance received directly by individuals.” This includes Title IV, HEA funds, which are provided to individual students, such as Pell Grants.

College access is important, and we and many others across the country, are strong advocates for students pursuing their educational goals. We will keep you updated as we receive more information.
