Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, has named Russell Sage College to its 2025 Transfer Honor Roll. It is the sixth consecutive year that PTK has recognized Sage for the supportive and smooth transition it offers to transfer students.
The honor society considered college cost, financial aid, campus life for transfer students, admission practices, bachelor’s degree completion rates, and other key metrics to create its list of the most transfer-friendly schools in the nation. PTK uses data from the National Student Clearinghouse and information submitted to PTK Connect — an online tool that helps transfer students compare colleges — to assign schools a Transfer Friendliness Rating. The Transfer Honor Roll recognizes the top 25% of highest-rated schools.
Just 251 colleges and universities in the country made the 2025 Transfer Honor Roll, and Russell Sage and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute are the only colleges in New York’s Capital Region on the list.
“Transfer students made up about 45% of our incoming undergraduates last fall, and they play an important role in our college community,” said Russell Sage College Vice President for Enrollment Management Katie Cooney Lesko. “We’re so proud to offer a welcoming environment where transfer students can access merit scholarships and benefit from a generous transfer credit policy, and we’re delighted to be listed on the Transfer Honor Roll for the sixth year!”
