Each November, candidates in Russell Sage College’s Doctor of Education program who are in completing cohorts share their dissertation research at the annual doctoral research colloquium. This year, three cohorts marked this milestone with presentations and celebrations in Albany and New York City.
The candidates studied a wide range of current and relevant topics on system leadership, including ethical leadership, educator stress and psychological safety, educator recruitment and retention, professional development, AI and social media impacts in schools, and change efforts in education, said Francesca Durand, Ph.D., chair of Educational Leadership programs at Russell Sage. “Many focused on culturally responsive and equitable leadership to improve outcomes for traditionally underserved students by exploring grading policies, special education, school attendance, English language learners, STEM programs, rural and urban education, and students who experienced parental incarceration or were in the foster care system.”
