On Thursday, Oct. 8, Commissioner of New York State’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Pat Murphy and Deputy Commissioner Dan O’Hara presented Russell Sage College President Christopher Ames and Director of Public Safety Bob Sears with a plaque, recognizing the college for assisting New York state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

From April through mid-August, Sage made the Armory on its Albany campus available to New York National Guard members, who used the building to assemble COVID-19 test kits. The kits were distributed to state-run testing sites and other locations throughout New York.

The plaque reads, in part, “Your invaluable assistance contributed significantly to protecting the lives of all New Yorkers.”
