Essential Pelvic Health, an American Occupational Therapy Association-approved provider, is offering a professional development course on Pelvic Rehab Manual Assessment and Treatment Techniques (PR-MATT). The course has both an online component and a live two-day weekend workshop held September 30 through October 1, 2023, at Russell Sage College, 65 1st St., Troy, New York.

About the course: Registrants will have the entire course available online for future reference. The live, two-day weekend component will take a deep dive into how to communicate, prepare, and execute internal and external techniques for comprehensive assessments and effective treatment techniques. 

The course covers:

  • The interview process and communication for internal/external assessments.
  • Internal and external manual assessment techniques of pelvic floor musculature and surrounding structures.
  • Documentation and analysis of findings and development of appropriate treatment protocols.
  • Mind-body Manual treatment techniques to restore mobility and coordination for balance.
  • Development of therapeutic exercise programs, ADL/IADL management, and home programs.

This mind-body manual skills course is for:

  • New OTs breaking into pelvic health
  • Practicing OTs looking to refine their manual skills and obtain new tools
  • All appropriate licensed professionals for internal PF work (PTs, NPs, MDs, CNMs)
  • Additional wellness professionals are welcome to join and participate in the internal portion as a model but will not be able to practice the internal and/or external manual techniques that fall outside of their professional licensure/certification.
