About Ryan Jennings

For any  student considering coming to Sage, Ryan Jennings has a simple message:

“If you don’t really know what you want to do when you arrive here, by the time you leave I bet you will. Because the people in this community will help you find your passion.”

That’s what’s happened with Ryan, a Psychology major from the Class of 2021.  He’s now a graduate student in Sage’s Forensic Mental Health master’s degree program, with the hope that one day he might become a special agent with the FBI.

“I’m a very determined person,” he says. “With a career in law enforcement I think I can help people, and help the community.”

Ryan feels like Sage has helped him go to another level with his life. By that he means in high school he was a member of student government, while at Sage he became president of the student government. Because, he says, he was encouraged to take that step up.

“I’ve been helped in growing my leadership skills,” he says. “And challenged to be the best version of myself.”

Again, he says, this all comes back to the support he’s had from those around him.

“Sage really is a community,” he says. “Not just a college.”

Ryan says while at Sage he’s met people from all walks of life, including making friends with fellow students from Norway and Australia. And as a member of the varsity volleyball team he feels like he’s had the chance to learn the importance of accountability and working together.

“We all care about each other,” he says. “That’s a good feeling.”

“If you don’t really know what you want to do when you arrive here, by the time you leave I bet you will. Because the people in this community will help you find your passion.”
