Russell Sage College Announces New Women’s Institute Faculty Fellows and Fall Ambassador Cohort

The Denise Taber Finard ’80 Women’s Institute at Russell Sage College has named Professor Tonya Moutray, Ph.D., and Assistant Professor MaryEllen Tedesco as its new Faculty Fellows.

The Women’s Institute will also welcome 16 new student ambassadors this fall, bringing the total number of ambassadors to 27, including 14 first-year students. This more than doubles the number of students in the program.

Tonya Moutray, Ph.D.

Tonya Moutray serves as a professor of English in the Interdisciplinary Studies department. Her research explores the intersections of women’s studies, literature, culture, and the history of healthcare and education. Moutray recently presented research at Queen Mary University of London and the Capital District Feminist Studies Conference at Russell Sage College, highlighting the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and their role in expanding parochial school development for immigrant children in Troy during the Gilded Age.

MaryEllen Tedesco

MaryEllen Tedesco is an assistant professor, department chair, and undergraduate program director in Russell Sage’s School of Management. Bringing 40 years of progressive human resources and leadership experience to her role, Tedesco focuses her teaching on experiential learning, ethical leadership, and evidence-based management practices. As a Faculty Fellow, her ability to build community, foster trust, and cultivate respect will provide the ambassadors with an environment for growth and connection.
