For physical therapists aspiring to join a professional franchise’s sports medicine team, the path can be as competitive as earning a spot on the active roster. Two recent Russell Sage College Doctor of Physical Therapy graduates are proving they have what it takes to make the cut.

While a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree provides the license to practice, Arthur Wayne Baker Jr., PT, DPT,  ’24 and Taylor Dorado, PT, DPT, ’23 are building on that foundation to pursue the rigorous Sports Clinical Specialist credential for PTs, a post-doctoral certification that designates advanced expertise in sports physical therapy. As part of that process — which also includes a national examination — they’ve secured competitive residencies and fellowships as well as elite clinical placements in professional athletics.
