Everyone may currently enroll directly with health insurance companies operating in New York but the coverage is very expensive often costing $1000.00 or more a month.
Beginning on January 1, 2014, individuals not offered coverage through an Employer that meets “Minimum Essential Coverage” and affordability requirements, will be able to purchase coverage through the NY Health Benefits Exchange. Low and middle-income individuals will receive substantial financial assistance to make coverage affordable.
|How do I sign up?||Talk to your parents’ insurance company or employer. If you are older than 26 and are interested in staying on as a dependent, ask about the “Age 29 Make-Available Option” and the “Young Adult Option.”||
