1. How do I access my financial aid at Sage?

The Sage Colleges houses your Financial Aid information on SageAdvisor.  You can access your financial aid by using the links located under the Financial Aid heading on SageAdvisor.

2. How do I view my award letter?

You can view your award letter by clicking on the Financial Aid Award Letter link located under the Financial Aid heading on SageAdvisor.  You will then be prompted to select the appropriate academic year.  This will display your award letter in a view only format; you cannot accept or decline your aid on this page.   Once you are done reviewing your award letter click the ok button and you will be brought back to the SageAdvisor student main menu.

3. On my award letter it shows a COA, EFC, and need, what do these figures represent?

COA - Cost of Attendance:

The COA is a budget used in calculating your eligibility for financial aid.  It consists of direct costs (billed to your student account) and indirect cost.  The cost of attendance is not the price of the college but rather the cost of tuition , fees, room, board and other allowable expenses that you may incur while attending The Sage Colleges.

EFC - Expected Family Contribution:

Your EFC is calculated from the information you reported on your FAFSA and is used to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid.  The EFC is calculated according to a formula established by the Department of Education.

Need:

Your financial aid office will use your COA and your EFC to determine if you have financial need.

Cost of Attendance (COA) - Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = Financial Need

You must have Financial Need in order to be eligible to receive any need-based financial aid.  Types of need based aid include: Federal Pell grants, Federal SEOG grants, Subsidized Stafford loans and Federal Work Study.

A student cannot receive more need-based aid than the amount of their financial need.  For instance, if your COA is $6000 and your EFC is $2000, your financial need is $4000; so you are not eligible for more than $4,000 in need-based aid.

4. How do I accept my financial aid?

You can accept or decline your financial aid by clicking on the Accept or Reject My Financial Aid Awards link located under the Financial Aid heading on SageAdvisor.  You will then be prompted to select the appropriate academic year.  This will display your current financial aid package on the top half of the screen.  You can accept or decline your financial aid on the bottom half of the screen.

If you wish to accept or decline your financial aid package in its entirety click on the drop-down bar next to Action to Take on All and select the appropriate action. If you want to accept or reject individual awards you may do so by selecting the appropriate action next to each award.
