We’re very pleased to share that The Sage College Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the new strategic plan to position Sage to serve the students of the future. The development and adoption of this plan follows many months of research, analysis, listening and consideration.
This forward-looking plan includes:
- The reorganization and rebranding of the college as one unified co-educational college with two campuses to be known as Russell Sage College.
- The introduction of a core value and signature program that builds on our strengths in health sciences to promote wellness and well-being across the curriculum and student life.
- The creation of an as-yet-unnamed women’s institute, which will be a distinctive approach to applying the feminist and inclusive values of Russell Sage’s history to the contemporary world and contemporary students.
This is an historic moment in the long history of our institution, both in Troy and Albany. We have addressed current and future enrollment, as well as academic and societal trends, and have done so with a regard for our historical strengths and traditions. Working with a diverse group of stakeholders, we have developed a plan that will position our institution for generations of future success.
Thank you to all who played in this journey toward ensuring a vital, stable future for the college. The passionate concern for this institution has been evident and that makes these efforts to safeguard our future even more important.
In March, the Board will meet to review implementation plans so that we can achieve our stated goal of having the strategic plan in place for the 2020-2021 academic year. We anticipate formally sharing the full plan at that time.
Sincerely,

Patricia Timpano Sparrell ’78
