Student Activities

Clubs and other student-run organizations set you up to find your people, expand your mind, help the community, or create memories you’ll want to post on your socials. When you get involved and serve as a leader in student organizations, you also build up your resume for when these college memories truly become memories and you trade your sweats for a suit, or scrubs, or your Friday business casual.

Meet Our Clubs

The college has a variety of clubs for students to join. Student clubs need to be chartered annually through the Student Government Association, so the number of clubs each year may vary depending on student interest. Clubs are open to all students regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, gender, sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Mission: To encourage students to practice and promote the creative endeavors of design and become more active in the industry through events, speakers, and tours.

Mission: It is open to anyone and we are here to help provide community for people who believe in Christ through fellowship at meetings where we learn about God through the Bible.

Mission: we are targeting students who have a passion for fashion and who want to expand there wardrobe /sense of style into other fashion trends and cultures were creating this club to make others feel confident in there style and to express creativity through fashion , to build community and school spirit.

Mission: To support refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and others in the Capital Region through support efforts, fundraising, volunteering and other means.

Mission: The mission of the Caribbean Student Association (CSA) is to foster a vibrant and inclusive community that celebrates the diverse cultures, histories, and traditions of the Caribbean diaspora. Our purpose is to provide a “home away from home” for Caribbean students while educating the broader Russell Sage College community through cultural showcases, culinary events, and discussions on Caribbean heritage and contemporary issues. We aim to promote unity, cultural awareness, and academic excellence among our members.

Mission: Practicing and teaching cheerleading to students of all experience levels, and cheering at Sage basketball games and other events, like Sage Fest.

Mission: Circle K is a service oriented organization dedicated to developing college students into responsible leaders with a lifelong commitment to service. Through volunteerism, leadership development, and fellowship, our club works to improve our campus and surrounding community while fostering personal growth, teamwork, and civic engagement.

Mission: Our goal is to bring a safe space for students to practice dance if they cannot fit it within their major. This includes novices who have never danced all the way up to decade long students of the art. Every spring we hold a showcase to share with campus what we’ve learned or the fun we’ve had practicing.

Mission: Our mission is to provide a stress free environment where people can relax and enjoy themselves through the readings of romance and let their mind roam freely through the words of various authors. In addition we are providing a space to connect with others who enjoy reading as much as you do. Even if you don’t enjoy reading this is the best place to start as all are welcomed.

Limited membership. This club is meant for Education majors including those in the Childhood Education (concentrations Life Science, History, English, and Spanish), Special Education, Physical Education, and Art Education programs

Mission: The mission of the Future Educators Club is to bring together future educators for shared initiatives that benefit the community at large and support our shared goal of becoming transformational educators.

Mission: Gator Productions will strive to provide opportunities for students of any major and grade to engage in student-run art independent from the Theatre Institute at Sage at Russell Sage College. It will produce a season with licensed and original works over the course of the academic year. Gator Productions will allow students to be a part of all different aspects of theatre including performing, directing, writing, designing, and more.

Mission: To educate those in and not in the Interior Design niche about design in fun, creative, and interesting ways that relate back to the world of designing. Our purpose is to show people that anyone can be a designer.

Mission: Spark creativity in the Sage community through artistic endeavors.

Mission: To embrace black American culture and to build community.

Limited membership. Limited to Pre-Health students, or majors connected to health/wellness (ex: art therapy).

Mission: The Pre-Health Club supports students pursuing careers in healthcare by providing opportunities to explore different medical fields, gain hands-on experience, and connect with professionals. Through guest speakers, volunteer opportunities, and discussions on patient care, the club helps members better understand healthcare and prepare for their future careers. The club also promotes service and involvement in the community.

Mission: Psychology Club aims to provide a space for psychology majors, minors, and those of interest for further learning, collaboration, and community involvement past the classroom.

Mission: Our goal is to foster legal development through providing resources and opportunities to become civilly engaged through volunteer work, activism, and education in our community and its organizations. Many club activities will center around growing the network, publishing a monthly newsletter, raising awareness of local political and legislative activities, and inviting guest speakers to expand our discussion and perspectives on the subject. Our club aims to promote both legal and civic engagement.

In times of political and social unrest, it’s important to be civically engaged with our community. This enables individuals to fully participate in ongoing discussions that shape our perspectives as a society, a nation, and an international community. This is an organization that specializes in providing aid to those in legal academic studies, but is open to all students who want to become civically engaged and volunteer in our community. The civic engagement division will work with any student to try and find ways to volunteer in their areas and activities of interest. Our membership hopes to provide RSC students with the opportunity to learn about the legal and legislative system. We are dedicated to empowering students to engage with the field of law and become civically engaged citizens.

Mission: To faithfully recreate and represent historical periods through art, science, martial studies, oral history, and more.

Mission: The mission of Sage Muscle Mommies is to support and motivate students as they balance academics with their mental and physical well-being. We place a strong emphasis on women’s health, recognizing that women have unique needs and deserve a supportive space to focus on their wellness. At the same time, we are an inclusive organization that welcomes all members of Sage to participate in our activities and build a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.

Mission: We aim to promote democracy and social justice and to provide non-biased political education.

Limited membership. Must audition.

Mission: We sing a capella choir music and preserve years long Sage traditions through music.

Mission: Our mission is to bring members peace of mind through positive interaction involving non-rigorous creative and calming activities. Meetings will include activities or hobbies members are interested in pursing in a self care focused environment.

Mission: To aspire camaraderie, and provide support to RSC nursing students of all semesters, while building a resource for proper networking and socialization.

Mission: The Sage Colleges Veterans Club is a community of likeminded individuals, whose goals are to support, and guide veterans through the transition from the military to college. Moreover, the Veterans Club helps to shape its members into proactive community members who strengthen relationships between veterans and the community through acts of service and outreach by partnering with local charities, support groups, and other colleges.

Mission: The club’s mission is to get more students to show up for athletic events, get more athletes involved in student-run events, and to unite the campuses like never before.

Do You Want to Start a New Club?

If you don’t find exactly what you’re into, you can bring what you’re into to the college. You can start new clubs by working with the Student Life offices in Albany and Troy. Students can charter a club and submit a budget request to the Student Government Association to gain funds to support club activities throughout the year.

Honors Societies for the Smarties Among Us

You can learn and have fun (see: honors societies). Russell Sage also has had several honor societies that recognize student achievements within and outside the classroom. Learn more about those below.

The Athenians is the Russell Sage Academic Honor Society. It is composed of juniors and seniors who have achieved a cumulative average of 3.4 after four terms of work.

This society of Russell Sage College recognizes student participation, leadership, and service in the college community. Members of Sage Circle are students who exemplify high standards of character, good sportsmanship, and conduct. The members are expected to continue to promote and retain interest and service in the college community. The criteria for membership include a class standing of at least a second-semester sophomore, a cumulative average of at least a 2.7, the accumulation of a required number of points as prescribed by the Sage Circle Point Sheets, and the overall recognition of high standards exhibited by the student as viewed by the current members of Sage Circle.

Many academic departments have their own nationally recognized honor societies. Students can consult with faculty department chairs to find out about what opportunities are available in their academic programs.

Student government is a driving force in the success of a college. And it’s another way for you to get involved! It’s also a great way to exercise your leadership skills and build your resume.
