The Rev
The Rev is a student-run creative literary arts magazine formerly known as The Russell Sage College Review. For the last six years, The Rev has been produced in collaboration with the CreativityUnleashed Publishing, a not-for-profit organization based in London, UK. It is supported by the Sage libraries and funded by Russell Sage College’s Carol Ann Donahue Endowed Fund. We are proud to support Carol Ann Donahue’s enduring legacy. The Rev is also published as part of the Russell Sage English, Writing and Culture program. EWC is an innovative program in which students engage with diverse literatures and cultures, learn about the ways that writing shapes the world, and develop their own powerful voices. Many students from this department serve as editors on the magazine, or are published within its pages.

We have also been privileged to work with Questar III’s New Visions Visual and Performing Arts program for the third year in a row. These incredible students joined us for our flat plan and layout meetings to learn the processes of editorializing a magazine. They also provided beautiful, creative works for our submission process.
Questar III’s New Visions Visual & Performing Arts program, located at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy, NY, is a specialized program for academically and artistically advanced high school seniors who are planning to attend college for the visual or performing arts. NV: VAPA students gain knowledge about the business of art and specific techniques through a curriculum that blends college-level education with practicalexperience. Topics of study include preparing the college application and audition/portfolio, filmmaking, songwriting and recording, playwriting and performance, and an art show.

Every year, our editors receive submissions from international high school students (both those studying abroad and residential students from other countries currently studying in America). This year, we reviewed almost 150 pieces.
Congratulations to our short list, 10 creatives whose work will feature in our print magazine, and to our long list, 30 students whose work will feature on the CreativityUnleashed blog. Visit www.creativity-unleashed.org/competitions to see those pieces.
A special congratulations goes to our 1st place winner, Yao Wang, from Union County Magnet High School for his satire: The ABCs of Being an ABC; our 2nd place winner, Alysa Wu, from United World College of South East Asia, for her artwork Reaching For An Absolution; and our 3rd place winner, Katherine Wu, from Seven Lakes High School, for her short story Ghost Girl.
